On October 26, 1993, NFL owners unanimously selected Carolina as the 29th NFL franchise and the first expansion team since 1976. Fireworks exploded over uptown Charlotte as jubilant fans gathered to celebrate the news. "This is a dream come true for me and my partners and for the 10 million people in the Carolinas," said Carolina Panthers Owner/Founder Jerry Richardson, who became just the second former player to own an NFL team along with George Halas of the Chicago Bears.

The Charlotte Bobcats are a professional basketball team based in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. They play in the Southeast Division, created because of the team's entry, of the Eastern Conference in the National Basketball Association. The Bobcats joined the league in 2004, two seasons after Charlotte's previous NBA team, the Charlotte Hornets relocated to New Orleans and became the New Orleans Hornets.

Charlotte Eagles are an American soccer team, founded in 1993. The team is a member of the United Soccer Leagues Second Division, the third tier of the American Soccer Pyramid. They currently play their home games in the stadium at Waddell High School in Charlotte, North Carolina. The team's colors are orange, white and blue. The Eagles are a division of Missionary Athletes International (MAI), an organization committed to sharing the message of Christianity through the environment of soccer, which is accomplished through sports ministry, and are a sister organisation of the PDL side Southern California Seahorses.

The Charlotte Checkers are an American ice hockey team in Charlotte, North Carolina, playing in the ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League). The current Checkers are named for the teams of the past, and for years were known for an orange and electric blue checkerboard pattern logo. However, it is possible that the Checkers name comes from the hockey term "checking".

On October 30, 1996 a new era began in the city of Charlotte, as they were awarded one of the eight franchises in the newly formed Women’s National Basketball League (WNBA). Work quickly began to create a team the city could be proud of. One of the first orders of business was to begin to build a roster for the fledgling franchise. On January 22, 1997, North Carolina State’s Andrea Stinson and Maryland’s Vicky Bullett were allocated to the team, becoming the first members of the new team.

Your hands are on the wheel, your foot is on the gas, and you're in the driver's seat for 8 laps around the speedway in a 358 cubic inch V-8 NASCAR style racecar that roars with 600 horsepower. Prior to driving, students will go through 2 elements of safety and instruction training, in-car and on-track instruction. After driving like the "King", students will receive a graduation packet that includes a time sheet with a breakdown of each lap driven.
